Expectations

Ursuline High School Ladies Soccer

Expectations 2010-2011 School Year

Varsity Coach: Allen Conti

Assistant & JV Ladies Coach: Charity Griffith
The UHS Ladies soccer program is committed to excellence and demands personal accountability, both on and off the pitch. Everyone in the program must recognize and accept the importance of commitment to this program. That commitment must be in all areas: grades, attendance, attitude, communication, and players’ improvement in techniques and tactics.

In order to be a member of the UHS soccer program, every player must adhere to these rules:

  1. In accordance with the UHS student/parent handbook, Participation on an athletic team is a privilege, and it carries certain responsibilities. When you become part of a team, you represent UHS. You are expected to exhibit the kind of behavior and leadership that speaks highly of yourself and UHS. Any action by any athlete that embarrasses UHS or the soccer program may be cause for immediate conference and possible suspension.
  2. All parents and players should be aware that a player could be seriously injured, perhaps even fatally, as a result of participation in soccer. To decrease this possibility, all players must have proper equipment including shin guards that meet the OHSAA requirements. In addition, any sickness, injury, etc. should be reported immediately to the Coaches, so that we may be aware of and evaluate the situation.
  3. If a player is going to be late to or absent from a practice, it is the responsibility of that player to notify the Coach. Having a teammate notify the Coach does not absolve the player of the responsibility. Failure to properly notify a Coach will result in delayed or diminished playing time in games. Chronic Lateness or Absence can result in suspension from the team and dismissal from the program.
  4. The Soccer program as well as UHS will NOT tolerate the use of alcohol, drugs, steroids, or tobacco. Any athlete caught using, transporting, or selling these items can be dismissed from the program and the proper authorities will be contacted.
  5. Players are expected to be dressed correctly for all practices and games. Players are expected to arrive by the appropriate times and be prepared to participate at the designated times. At home games, players are to wear White Jerseys and SOX with Green Shorts. At away contests, players are to wear Green Jerseys, SOX and Shorts. There are no exceptions.
  6. Players do not own the uniforms and must return any designated team items at the end of the season. Uniforms are not to be used for practice sessions. NOTE: Under Armour-type undergarments are to be White under Jerseys, and Black under shorts for both home and away.
  7. Players are expected to ride the bus to and from games. In an emergency or unusual situation, the player may be released to her parent/guardian. No player will be released to other player’s parents, friends, etc. unless previously arranged by the parent/guardian and the Coach.
  8. Use of cell phones at practices and games is prohibited.
  9. Parents must be prompt in picking up their athlete at UHS after the game.
  10. Playing time, tactics, or lineups will NOT be discussed, debated, or argued with parents or players before, during or after games. Although Captains may bring issues to the attention of the Coaches and discuss them with the Coaches, any others may set-up an appointment with a Coach if they wish to discuss these issues.
  11. GOOD SPORTSMANSHIP IS AN ABSOLUTE MUST! This includes both parents and players. Unsportsmanlike actions, language and behavior can result in an athlete being benched and/or suspended from future games. Parents may be asked not to attend future games.
